    Perseid Meteor Shower, 2021

Not bad for Bortle 4 skies. After a week of gloomy weather forecasts for the Perseids, they were wrong again and we got to see some meteors last night. The sky was murky at best and the clouds rolled in just before dawn, but despite the poor transparency I still managed to capture about 20 or so. Nikon D810a on a Manfrotto tripod. Thousand Oaks Dew Heater controller. 25s exposures, ISO 3200, F/2.8 14mm Exposures with meteors were layered in Photoshop (20 layers in total)

July 15, 2021 Single exposure Nikon D810a 60s f/5 ISO 2500 14mm (tracked) Sharbot Lake Provincial Park, Ontario , Canada. 12:15am July 15, 2021 Last night I got in the car and drove 45 minutes north up to Sharbot Lake both to get away from local light pollution, and experience nature. Theres a spot in the park with a cement dock and it was absolutely perfect for south pointing Milky Way exposures. Not much view of the north at that spot but north can be found elsewhere in the park. The mozzies were surprisingly light! I got a few pics and thought at first glance (back of the camera) they would do. Looking at them now, the sky was much haszier than I realized, and there is some cloud in the south obscuring the horizon. Looks like I'll go back again at August new moon. The highlight of the night was the loons, beavers, raccoons and everything else that makes noise at night on a moonless night under the Milky Way. I'm not sure who was more scared, me or the beaver. But my heart skipped a beat when he flapped his tail. (her?) And when a loon is calling from so close you think you can touch it, that's pretty cool. All while your camera is capturing photons under the night sky in summertime.
